Occupational First Aid (QQI Level 5)
This is a comprehensive 3 day FETAC/QQI level 5 certification course which covers all the essential aspects of the Occupational First Aid requirements as outlined in module 5N1207 and was introduced on 1 September 2008. The Occupational First Aid course now includes Cardiac First Responder training in automated external defibrillators (AEDs) and administering aspirin for heart attack patients. The Occupational First Aid Regulations Safety, Health and Welfare at Work General Applications Regulations S.I. No. 299 of 2007. Under the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (General Application) Regulations 2007, there is a requirement on employers based on a risk assessment to have a sufficient number of Occupational First Aiders trained and deployed in the workplace.
All participants receive a comprehensive first aid manual. The assessment is conducted by an independent Registered FETAC/QQI Level 6 Occupational First Aid Instructor . The course consists of 8 units as listed below and includes Cardiac First Responder training in automated external defibrillators (AED’S). AIST together with Heartbeat Safety is an OFAAA (Occupational First Aid Assessment Authority) Training Provider. Upon successful completion of the course and assessment, participants are presented with an Occupational First Aid Certificate, which is valid for two years.
